... of the new year.

I had a wonderful New Year's Party last night. I spent the evening with a friend of mine, Ute - we're friends for more than 14 years now and last night was our first NYE together. There was also another couple, Wolfi and Conny. They often join us in our fire shows, so we spent a lot of time together in December. The last guy in our round was a friend of Ute. He's also very active in the middle age scene (he's a knight in Kaltenberg; that's a very famous tournament here in Germany), and I met him for the first time about four weeks ago. He's very nice. Of course there were also our kids, my two and Ute's son.

Wolfi cooked. He's an awesome cook, and we ate until we were feeling like bursting. Then we talked, and laughed, and laughed, and talked. In between talking and laughing we watched "Mamma Mia" on Ute's new Bljue Ray Player with her Dolby Surround System (a x-mas from herself to herself *bg*). It was amazing.

At midnight we went outside, and toasted to the New Year - which will be fantastic, by the way - and then we went back inside to some more talking and laughing. Wolfi made more food (lamp chops ... very yummie) and it was almost two in the morning when we finally went home. We had to because our kids (they're 7 and 11) were deadly tired.

So, yes, I enjoyed this NYE very much.

And now ... on to the New Year which will be completely and totally all kinds of awesome, right?

Yes, I did! It was my first job, and I worked there for five years. My boss was due to go into vacation, and his replacement was the Big Boss' son *yack*. He was such an arrogant prick, so I said to my boss, "I quit if I have to work with that guy!" He didn't take me serious, didn't talk to Big Boss about another replacement, so I quit.

It sounds pretty petty to do that over something so small but the BB's son was an idiot! He told me that he - and only he - would answer the phone, and when there was a customer it would be him who would serve him (I worked as an optician, still do in fact). I felt like a slave. I tried to talk to him about it but he simply wouldn't listen so I thought 'Fuck you!' and walked away.

Felt incredibly good!

And wow! What a way to start this season!

On my way to work this morning I wanted to park my car on my usual parking spot right behind my shop. Unfortunately there was a car parked right in front of the entrance. *growl* I was like "Hey, stupid ... could you please move your f****ing car?" but simply made a gesture to the driver who leaned against his car.

He saw my gesture and came closer. I rolled down my window, and told him as politely as I could before my first cup of coffee that I would like to park there. He smiled and said, "I'm afraid, that's not possible right now. I'm from the police and we're just arresting someone there. And btw ... the parking lot is full."

O-kay ... police? Arrest? Wow! So I drove on, parked my car in another street and when I was walking back to my shop, I saw a white van, and a guy with his hands on the roof, and two other guys who seemed to search for weapons or something like that. It was like in a movie.

And just now a customer came in, telling me that the guy was apparently a drug dealer who also drew a gun at the cops. *swallows hard*

Yes, living in a small town is nice. And soooo peaceful.

And now I need coffee.
